Baking soda, why you no bubble?

OK... So I came home from school all hyped up to make a cake and guess what? Baking soda expired! Sighhhh, my life sometimes eh >_< The expiry date was only a month ago but after doing the bubble test (drop some soda in some hot water and look for some serious bubbling), I realized I had to dash any hopes of baking tonight, unless I want a cake that doesn't rise, which I don't. Sucks though, I went to the grocery recently and still that really was not on my radar so note to self next time: always check that you not only have all your ingredients needed, but also check that the ingredients have not expired :/

It's been so long since I've baked anything from scratch though, my hands are itching me to make something but time not allowing me to do it. BUT feeling for some cinnamon rolls, and seeing that Cinnabon is ridiculously sweet and I've already had my one Cinnabon per quarter, I think it's time to make some rolls soon =D

Not Playing Mas

OK....

Minute gone? Ok good, now we can get on with the post :) I've just been putting mas out of my mind so that not being able to play won't affect me so much. But that's hard to do when every time I log into Facebook, someone makes a status about their excitement for the big day, or posts up their costume on my Facebook homepage, just violently poking the bear -_- But seeing that this is a super duper short season, it should all be over in 4-5 weeks time (you have to give people about 2 weeks after Carnival to stop posting statuses, pics etc. about their time on the road, I know this because I've done exactly that for the past couple years I've been playing).

For anyone who has played mas before and enjoyed it as much as I do, not getting to play due to reasons beyond your direct control really sucks. BUT, on the other hand, not playing mas allowed me to take a step back, and reflect on just how much I love that feeling of dancing around in a pretty costume, slightly or not so slightly inebriated, and just having a ball. Sighhh, I love CARNIVAL :)
